ESPP Student wins National Academies Fellowship

MSU Ph.D. student Rachel Shwom has been awarded a U.S. National Academies of Science Christen Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship. Ms. Shwom is a Ph.D. student in Sociology and is a member of the first cohort of students in the Environmental Science and Policy doctoral specialization. The Mirazan Fellowship will allow Ms. Schwom to work with the U.S. National Research Council Committee on Human Dimensions of Global Change during the Fall Semester of 2006. She will assist the Committee in a project assessing the effects of climate change on coastal areas, and participate in a variety of seminars and special events with senior science and environmental policy officials in Washington. Ms. Shwom holds a B.A. from Syracuse University and a Master's of Environmental Management from Duke. She worked for the Consortium for Energy Efficiency promoting private sector energy efficiency before coming to MSU.
