Looking for a fellowship for next fall? The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as part of its Science to Achieve Results (STAR) program, is offering Graduate Fellowships for masters and doctoral level students in environmental fields of study. The deadline for receipt of pre-applications is November 28, 2006.
The purpose of the fellowship program is to encourage promising students to obtain advanced degrees and pursue careers in an environmental field. The program has proven to be beneficial to both the public and private sectors by providing a steady stream of well-trained environmental specialists.
The agency plans to award approximately 65 new fellowships in the next year. Master's level students may receive support for a maximum of two years and doctoral students may be supported for a maximum of three years. The fellowship program provides up to $37,000 per year of support per fellowship.
Interested applicants must attend a fully accredited U.S. college or university and must also be citizens of the United States or its territories or possessions, or be lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence.
You may submit a pre-application either by paper or electronically. The necessary forms for submitting a STAR paper pre-application can be found on the NCER website, http://www.epa.gov/ncer/rfa/forms/. Interested students should be sure to leave themselves ample time to complete the application as the paperwork does take some time to fill out.
