Shaping Future Water Policy: The Role of Science
Shaping Future Water Policy: The Role of Science is an innovative workshop series designed
to bring together nationally renowned water scientists and individuals (Water Resource Fellows) who have an
interest and stake in the future of water in the State of Michigan. The goals are to create a forum for
discussion on how to improve and invest in a science-based policy agenda for the future for water use,
conservation, and protection in Michigan and the Great Lakes region. The workshops feature internationally
recognized scientists in the U.S. who are experts in various water resource fields including public health,
aquatic ecosystems, hydrology, and water markets. These scientists will introduce the latest scientific
knowledge and cutting-edge technologies to address water problems as well as participate with the Water
Resource Fellows on discussions about the future investment and type of information needed for making
science-based policy decisions.
