BIOGRAPHY

Titas is a Ph.D. student at the department of Community Sustainability and in a dual major program with Environmental Science and Policy Program. Her academic interests revolve around natural resource management, gender, and development. Her research focus on land dispossession and displacement, particularly the gendered access and ownership of land. She studies the role of different local and multilateral institutions in the use and access to natural resources and community rights of  traditional dwellers. She uses interdisciplinary methods to study the social inequities caused by 'land-grab' for developmental initiatives accelerated in the wake of globalization in India.
Currently, she is also a graduate fellow with the Scholarship in Undergraduate Teaching and Learning (SUTL) program at the Lyman Briggs College and Graduate School of MSU.
She holds a bachelors degree in economics and has completed her masters in economics from Hyderabad Central University, India.
