BIOGRAPHY

I am a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at Michigan State University. My main research interest is in environmental sociology, especially on the social dimensions of disasters, social-ecological systems, and environmental justice & inequality. Before joining MSU in Fall 2025, I worked as a faculty member at the Department of Disaster Management & Resilience at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). My work there focused on climate-hazard vulnerability, risks faced by marginalized communities, urban disaster preparedness, and youth mental health during and after the pandemic.

Additionally, I have experience in governmental and non-governmental sectors through an internship at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR) and work with a national NGO in a climate change and adaptation program. I also served as a national volunteer with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and completed a Training of Trainers program in Disaster Management in India. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Disaster Management from the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
