BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Lili Li holds a joint appointment at Michigan State University between the Department of Political Science and the College of Engineering. She teaches courses in the Department of Political Science and also serves as an Academic Specialist at the College of Engineering. Dr. Li earned her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Jilin University and her master’s degree in Environmental Science from Peking University. She completed her Ph.D. in Public Policy at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, with her dissertation working on policy design for sustainable energy transition. Prior to joining Michigan State University, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the College of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment at Auburn University, working on forest carbon credits. Her academic interests center on environmental policy and governance, with a particular focus on addressing environmental challenges through integrated approaches that connect policy, science, and engineering. Her doctoral research examined the layering of diverse policy instruments to support sustainable energy transitions. She has also worked on projects related to COVID-19 policy design, smart city governance, and artificial intelligence governance. Her research has been published in Nature Communications, Applied Energy, Climate Policy, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Public Administration and Development, among other journals.
