ESPP invites abstract submissions from undergraduate students, graduate students, and post-doctoral scholars at MSU for the upcoming ESPP Fall Student Research Symposium. This event, scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM in the Lincoln Room at the Kellogg Center, aims to bring together researchers from various disciplines to address pressing issues at the intersection of environmental science and policy.

The Misunderstood Politics of the U.S. Energy Transition | September 5, 2024
The Knight Center for Environmental Journalism is hosting a free public talk by University of Texas law professor David Spence on Sept. 5 about politics and America’s energy transition. David Spence, professor of energy regulation at the University of Texas at Austin, will discuss his new book and its analysis of the political obstacles to a strong national climate policy.

The MSU Center for Interdisciplinary Center Research Collaboration Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) will be hosting monthly write ins for folks working on interdisciplinary projects and workshops on interdisciplinary collaboration and teaching & learning.
Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Workshop Series 2024
The MSU AGEP Program is conducting a workshop series that will present NSF GRFP program information and provide structured practice to create competitive GRFP application. Workshop 1 is at 6-7:30 PM on Monday September 9, 2024, and workshop 2 is at the same time on Tuesday September 10, 2024. The workshop will go into more detail about the GRFP award and the required application documents. In addition, the workshop will walk through the application timeline, how to request letters of recommendation, advice for the research statement, and practice activities to prepare the participants to start their GRFP application.

Communicating Science Conference - MI 2024 | October 26-27, 2024
ComSciCon-MI is a free workshop focused on science communication. This event is tailored specifically for graduate students and postdocs in Michigan and neighboring regions. The program features panel sessions with approximately 20 invited professional science communicators, writing sessions to hone participants’ skills, peer and expert review of writing, and a pop talk contest where participants showcase their science outreach projects and forge new collaborations.

The application for the 2025 Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program is now open! We are seeking current graduate students or recent graduates who are interested in exploring career options in science policy. A typical candidate is in the final years of their PhD program or has defended their thesis within the past five years, and is excited to spend time in D.C., learn about science policy, and network with science and technology policy experts. This year’s Fellowship will run from March 3 - May 23, 2025.

2025 IBEEM Postdoctoral Fellowship Application Now Open
The Institute for Biodiversity, Ecology, Evolution, and Macrosystems (IBEEM) is a new center at Michigan State University (MSU) designed to bring together scientists studying biodiversity at multiple scales with the goal of increasing visibility and productivity of scientists conducting this important research. IBEEM is now accepting applications for 2025 IBEEM Postdoctoral Fellows, including a collaborative proposal among multiple postdocs. Applications due Friday, Nov. 15.
